Gordonton Microlight Club Southern Strips Fly-In – 27 August 2011
Chris Bayley, Hub Hall and Christ Holmes.
First strip Chris Bayley. Tea, coffee, biscuits and home-made soup awaited as planes flew in from all directions (and they literally did!). Good Bantam turn-out of 6. Chris always makes us feel very welcome and the soup is always great!
Hub and Suzie Hall’s was our next stop. A new strip for most of us in the hills, nearly against Mt Maungatauwhiri on the south-western side. Hubb’s strip is right in the middle of his beautiful deer farm. More refreshments including GIANT chocolate biscuits were enjoyed before heading around the corner to Chris Holmes.
Chris’s strip is set in park-like grounds. It must take hours and hours to mow everything being such a large area including their residence. Great place to finish the afternoon with lunch and yet another coffee. Thanks Chris. Also based at Chris’s is Richard Main’s gyro-copter and it was great to see Richard back in the air after his Bantam accident back in the New Year.
Bill Henwood took some amazing photos on this day. If you would like to view them click on their website: www.supercub.co.nz Go to photo gallery tab, then GMC Pukeatua Fly Out Photos.
