PUBLISHERS' NOTE.
Dr. CUNNINGHAM has written " Mac's Memoirs" with the object of placing on permanent record the aviation achievements of his friend the late Squadron-Leader McGregor.
In its preparation he has been aided in that he was one of the few to whom this distinguished airman confided his flying experiences. Further, the author received flying instruction from him when residing in Palmerston North, and thus acquired the necessary technical knowledge of aviation.
With a view to presenting a simple story the author has eschewed sentiment, avoided over-statement, and adhered strictly to the historical record. While this may, to some readers, make the text somewhat prosaic, we feel sure that the wealth of exciting episodes and numerous dramatic incidents will sustain interest throughout. In fact, these occur so frequently that it is difficult to realize we are reading about actual experiences of a well-known New Zealand airman.
We are pleased to add that any profits accruing from the sale of the book will be used by the author to supplement the memorial fund for the maintenance of Squadron-Leader McGregor's wife and children.
