To the list of prominent women flyers must be added the name of Veronica Volkersz, an English ex-beauty queen with over fifteen years of continuous flying on her adventure-packed log-book.
Having qualified as a pilot in the Civil Air Guard, during the war she became a flight captain and flew fighters and bombers to operational stations. She has flown over sixty different types of aircraft all over the world for practically every purpose for which an aeroplane can be used.
One of her purposes in writing this book has been to record for the first time the heroism of the gallant women flyers of the Air Transport Auxiliary.
This book is a timely addition to the literature of flying, emphasizing as it does the part that can be played by women. Like the career it describes, it is most exciting.
